Bio

We are creating a documentary that focuses on the German Shepherd and the people that have invited them into their lives. The feature-length film will showcase how these magnificent dogs have enriched/changed the lives of their human counterparts - how having one of these dogs in their life can add challenges and bring so much joy and pleasure.
We will be profiling several people from different walks of life, in different industries and in different positions they find themselves in - our aim to capture a diverse set of people from young families with small children through to elderly / retired people.
As well as diverse human profiles we ideally would like to capture the wide variety of personalities/temperaments that the German Shepherds - from working dogs through to primped and pampered show dogs.
The tone of the documentary will be positive and life-affirming, with genuine stories from those that contribute/participate. We want the German Shepherd community to recognize themselves, their emotions and experiences and reflect on how they are part of a very large trans-continental community that shares familiar bonds that have all been brought together by the love of their individual dogs.
Black & Gold documentary will be directed by first time director Jane Davis - Jane has a deep love and affection for German Shepherds, having had the pleasure of adopting 4 GSD's into her family and is still mourning the loss of her best friend and companion Rocky several years ago. Knowing how much of an influence Rocky has had in her life, the life of her only child and how every day the memory of this very special family member can still bring a tear to her eyes - this same emotion must be felt across the community. Jane will tell that story.
